It’s house of ori­gin cut­off day! With the major­i­ty of the 2023 leg­isla­tive ses­sion now behind us, we have almost reached what many activists, staffers, and lob­by­ists refer to as “town hall sea­son” … a peri­od dur­ing ses­sion when leg­is­la­tors tra­di­tion­al­ly hold in-per­son, tele­phone, or Zoom town halls with their constituents.

Here’s a roundup of all of the announced town halls that we know about this month, sort­ed by dis­trict. If you don’t know which dis­trict you are in, you can use the Leg­is­la­ture’s offi­cial dis­trict find­er to find out. You’ll notice that most leg­is­la­tors doing town halls offer them joint­ly with their seatmates!

1st Legislative District

Coun­ties: King, Snohomish

The all-Demo­c­ra­t­ic del­e­ga­tion in the 1st Leg­isla­tive Dis­trict is offer­ing an in-per­son town hall with Sen­a­tor Derek Stan­ford, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Shel­ley Klo­ba, and Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Davina Duerr from 1–2:30 PM on Sun­day, March 19th.

Coun­ties: Spokane

The all-Repub­li­can del­e­ga­tion in the 6th is offer­ing a tele­phone town hall with Sen­a­tor Jeff Holy, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Mike Volz, and Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Jen­ny Gra­ham from 6–7 PM on Thurs­day, March 16th.

Volz’s office advises:

An auto­mat­ed call will go out a few min­utes before the event to land­lines in the dis­trict. How­ev­er, if you do not have a land­line or you want to make sure you can par­tic­i­pate, you can call (509) 890‑1705 on March 16 from 5:45 PM all through the pro­gram. 9th Legislative District

Coun­ties: Lin­coln, Spokane, Adams, Whit­man, Franklin, Colum­bia, Garfield, Whitman

Repub­li­can State Rep­re­sen­ta­tives Joe Schmick and Mary Dye are offer­ing a tele­phone town hall oppor­tu­ni­ty on Mon­day, March 13th. Details:

I want to invite you to join me and my seat­mate, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Mary Dye, for our 9th Leg­isla­tive Dis­trict tele­phone town hall. We will host the event on Mon­day, March 13 from 6–7 PM. Repub­li­can Rep­re­sen­ta­tives Mike Steele and Kei­th Goehn­er will be hold­ing a vir­tu­al town hall on Thurs­day, March 16th from 7 PM to 8 PM.

21st Legislative District

The all-Demo­c­ra­t­ic del­e­ga­tion in the 21st Leg­isla­tive Dis­trict is offer­ing an in-per­son town hall with Sen­a­tor Marko Liias, State Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Lil­lian Ortiz-Self, and State Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Strom Peter­son on Sat­ur­day, March 18th at 10 AM.

Repub­li­can State Rep­re­sen­ta­tives Michelle Caldier and Spencer Hutchins will be hold­ing a series of town halls this Sat­ur­day, March 11th. Here is the schedule:

27th Legislative District

The all-Demo­c­ra­t­ic del­e­ga­tion in the 27th Leg­isla­tive Dis­trict is offer­ing an in-per­son town hall with Speak­er Lau­rie Jink­ins, Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Jake Fey, and Sen­a­tor Yas­min Trudeau from 10 AM to noon on Sat­ur­day, March 18th.

  • Why: For 27th Leg­isla­tive Dis­trict con­stituents to ask their leg­isla­tive del­e­ga­tion ques­tions about the cur­rent 2023 Leg­isla­tive Ses­sion. Top­ics will include the new oper­at­ing, trans­porta­tion and cap­i­tal con­struc­tion bud­gets for the state, as well as leg­is­la­tion per­tain­ing to hous­ing, our state’s work­force and repro­duc­tive and gen­der-affirm­ing care.

This will be the first in-per­son town hall offered by the del­e­ga­tion since 2020.
