Since its founding in 2003, NPI has been sustained by the generosity of activists and engaged citizens like you. Independent thought, agility, and ingenuity are in our DNA. We work every day to raise America’s quality of life by building infrastructure that promotes progressive values, principles, and policy directions. Meet our team and see examples of our research, advocacy, photojournalism, and events.
Benefits of membership
The team at NPI deeply appreciates each and every person who sustains our projects and publications. As one way of saying thank you for investing in our work, we offer the following benefits of membership.
Activist: Members who donate $25 per year receive the opportunity to join NPI’s monthly Grassroots Leadership Briefings, held via Zoom. Each briefing begins with update from NPI’s staff and board on the latest significant research findings from NPI and other trusted sources on national and local issues, and concludes with a Q&A.
Advocate: Members who donate $50 per year receive an exclusive invitation to participate in quarterly Activism Matters seminars (held jointly with the Northwest Progressive Foundation) plus access to NPI’s monthly Grassroots Leadership Briefings.
Sustainer: Members who donate $100 per year receive discounted admission to all ticketed NPI events (like our Spring Fundraising Gala), plus exclusive invitations to participate in quarterly Activism Matters seminars and access to NPI’s monthly Grassroots Leadership Briefings.
Champion: Members who donate $250 per year or more receive a new book twice a year as part of NPI’s Staff Book Club, accompanied by a one-page guide explaining how we use the book to advance our work, plus exclusive invitations to participate in quarterly Activism Matters seminars, discounted admission to all ticketed NPI events, and access to NPI’s monthly Grassroots Leadership Briefings.
Become a member of NPI
Becoming a member of NPI is easy. Simply provide your contact and payment information and click Submit. Your card details will be securely transmitted for processing to Stripe, which will also store and protect your card data using best available encryption. Your contact information will not be shared, and your card data will not be retained by NPI outside of Stripe.
Note that your membership will automatically renew by default
Check is also an option!
Regardless of whether you choose monthly giving or yearly giving, your membership will automatically renew by default after you submit this form, unless you request that autorenewal be disabled. You can contact us at any time to turn off autorenewal and we’ll process your request. Billing intervals for monthly giving are about every thirty days (on whichever day of the month you submit this form!), and billing intervals for yearly giving are every three hundred and sixty-five days. If you’d rather make a one-time donation to NPI, you can use this form. Most of our members prefer the convenience of autorenewal because it’s one less thing to have to worry about, and it ensures our staff can devote more time to building NPI’s research and advocacy capabilities.
You may also remit payment of your dues by check if you prefer (we keep 100% of donations made by check). Follow this link to fill out a printable membership form you can enclose and mail with your check.
How to complete the card data fields
Below you will see two fields: one for card details and the second for cardholder name. The first field is where you’ll put your card number, followed by the expiration date and three or four digit card security code. Begin by entering your sixteen digit card number. After that, the form should automatically move the cursor to the expiration date fields. (You only need to enter the last two digits of the year.) Once you’ve put in the security code, you can move to the second field.
Thank you for committing to supporting NPI as a member. Please read the NPI Creed below and type your name to signify that you have read and agree with the Creed.
I will train myself to think long term and look at the big picture. I will always keep an open mind and be willing to embrace new ideas and techniques. I will organize for change offline as well as online. Whenever possible, I will give young progressive activists and new progressive activists an opportunity to step up and make a difference. I will challenge and confront intolerance without allowing myself to become intolerant. I will speak out for those who have no voice, no lobbyist, and no advocate. As an activist with an audience, I will help preserve the art of storytelling. I will never pass up an opportunity to reframe and help teach others about the logic of America’s progressive values, especially empathy and responsibility. As a thought leader, I will help lead my fellow citizens to new positions, not follow polls, for that is what real leadership is. I will help maintain a strong first line of defense against threats to our Constitution, our common wealth, and our vital public services. No matter how depressing and hopeless circumstances may seem, I will keep putting one foot forward every day, working cheerfully for a more peaceful future for the Pacific Northwest, the United States, and this diverse planet we call Earth.
I agree to the NPI Creed and wish to become a member of NPI.
