Read NPI’s recap of the East Link pre­view ride on April 25th, 2024, which gave reporters and pho­tog­ra­phers an oppor­tu­ni­ty to expe­ri­ence light rail first­hand as rid­ers ahead of the April 27th grand open­ing to the public. 

Four new sta­tions will inau­gu­rate rev­enue ser­vice and be added to Puget Sound’s grow­ing light rail sys­tem as of Labor Day Week­end: Shore­line South/148th St., Shore­line North/185th St., Mount­lake Ter­race, and Lyn­nwood City Center. 

In advance of the grand open­ing on Sat­ur­day morn­ing, Sound Tran­sit kind­ly offered a pre­view ride for agency board­mem­bers and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of media orga­ni­za­tions. CEO Julie Timm and senior agency staff were present to talk about the new street­car vehi­cles and sta­tions, and did a great job explain­ing the his­to­ry of the project and the obsta­cles Sound Tran­sit over­came to get it built.
