California Supreme Court upholds Proposition 8, but says it’s not retroactive

Disappointing, but expected, news out of California this morning: The Golden State’s Supreme Court, by a vote of six to one, ruled that Proposition 8 (which amended the Constitution to prohibit marriage equality) is valid.

The Court also found, unanimously, that all gay and lesbian couples married before Proposition 8 took effect remain lawfully married.
