State Supreme Court sends De-Escalate WA’s Initiative 940 to the November 2018 ballot

A deeply divid­ed Wash­ing­ton State Supreme Court ruled today that De-Esca­late Wash­ing­ton’s Ini­tia­tive 940 must appear on the Novem­ber 2018 bal­lot to be con­sid­ered by the peo­ple because its adop­tion by the Leg­is­la­ture last win­ter was effec­tive­ly not with­out change or amend­ment due to the Leg­is­la­ture’s pas­sage of a sep­a­rate com­pro­mise bill (ESHB 3003) intend­ed to super­sede I‑940.

Whatever happened to “let the people vote”? Right wing voices silent as Alan Gottlieb’s group tries to block I‑1639 from the ballot

Hav­ing gone 0 for 2 against the Alliance for Gun Respon­si­bil­i­ty in pre­vi­ous years, Wash­ing­ton’s right wing has appar­ent­ly lost its appetite for anoth­er bal­lot bat­tle. They want peti­tions for the Alliance’s lat­est ini­tia­tive to be inval­i­dat­ed on a technicality.

Publicity seeking Tim Eyman files lawsuit to undo the Legislature’s I‑940 compromise

Refus­ing to leave well enough alone, dis­graced ini­tia­tive pro­mot­er Tim Eyman today filed a law­suit against Sec­re­tary of State Kim Wyman in an attempt to nul­li­fy last week’s agree­ment between the Leg­is­la­ture, De-Esca­late Wash­ing­ton, and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the law enforce­ment com­mu­ni­ty regard­ing I‑940.

Judge denies Eyman associate’s motion to dismiss campaign finance enforcement suit

Tim Eyman’s asso­ciates William Agazarm and Cit­i­zen Solu­tions will remain defen­dants in a $2.1 mil­lion cam­paign finance enforce­ment law­suit against Eyman’s ini­tia­tive fac­to­ry, Thurston Coun­ty Supe­ri­or Court Judge James Dixon ruled today. Agazarm and Cit­i­zen Solu­tions had asked Dixon to dis­miss the law­suit against them and award their lawyer Mark Lamb (who also rep­re­sents Eyman) attor­ney’s fees. […]
