Time to stop Time Warner Cable

One of the nation’s biggest internet service providers, Time Warner Cable, is moving forward with plans to charge its customers a whopping $150 if they exceed a pathetically low monthly bandwidth cap, the company announced yesterday.

Time Warner Cable’s broadband cap scheme has already been ripped apart by publications such as Wired Magazine, which have exposed it as a giant sham.

In response to the company’s action, advocacy groups, including FreePress, are calling on Congress to get involved.

Without strong Net Neutrality and consumer protection laws, there’s nothing preventing giant telecommunications companies like Time Warner Cable from abridging customers’ access to the Internet. It’s time for Congress and President Obama to put a stop to these manipulative practices.
