Brazil says Amazon deforestation rose 28% in a year
Bad news from South America: The Brazilian government says that between last summer and the one before that, the rate of deforestation in the Amazon rainforest went up by 28% after years of decline. Environmental protection activists think that counterproductive changes to Brazilian law are at least partly to blame. The BBC has more.
