Networks call Left Coast for Clinton: She easily wins Washington, Oregon, California

Hillary Clin­ton has swept to vic­to­ry in Wash­ing­ton, Ore­gon, and Cal­i­for­nia, as well as Hawaii, news net­works are pro­ject­ing. That gives her an esti­mat­ed 209 elec­toral votes. She would need sev­er­al dozen elec­toral votes more to win, however.

None of these out­comes are a sur­prise. The Left Coast has been solid­ly Demo­c­ra­t­ic for many, many cycles now. Ronald Rea­gan was the last Repub­li­can can­di­date to have car­ried a Left Coast state. Since then, the region has been a depend­able bloc of states for Democ­rats — win­ners and losers alike.
