Battleground states still close, dependable blue and red states called

As the night stretch­es on, more and more states are being col­ored in and added to the map. Hillary Clin­ton is pro­ject­ed to win in New York, the New Eng­land states of Maine, Mass­a­chu­setts, Delaware, Con­necti­cut, and Rhode Island, plus Mary­land, Delaware, and the Dis­trict of Colum­bia, while Trump has added states like Texas, Arkansas, North Dako­ta, Alaba­ma, Mis­sis­sip­pi, and South Dako­ta to his tally.

In Illi­nois, Tam­my Duck­worth has been pro­ject­ed as the win­ner in that state’s U.S. Sen­ate con­test, defeat­ing incum­bent Repub­li­can Mark Kirk.

The big bat­tle­ground states, how­ev­er, remain uncalled. These include Ohio, Flori­da, North Car­oli­na, and Flori­da. Trump is ahead in sev­er­al of them, but not all.

In Flori­da’s U.S. Sen­ate con­test, incum­bent Repub­li­can Mar­co Rubio has declared vic­to­ry over Demo­c­ra­t­ic chal­lenger Patrick Murphy.
