Tim Eyman to crash Costco’s election night party tonight at the Seattle Westin

Demon­strat­ing once again that he is appar­ent­ly inca­pable of orga­niz­ing his own elec­tion night par­ty for him­self and the gazil­lions of sup­port­ers that he claims to have, every­body’s favorite ini­tia­tive prof­i­teer Tim Eyman has  (for the umpteenth year in a row), claimed anoth­er cam­paign’s elec­tion night par­ty spot as his own… while dis­hon­est­ly mak­ing it sound as if it’s real­ly his par­ty.

Classy, huh? See for your­self. Here’s the first few para­graphs of the email Eyman sent to his fol­low­ers this morning:

Con­grat­u­la­tions — work­ing togeth­er, we’ve made the Ini­tia­tive 1125 cam­paign a tremen­dous suc­cess (same goes for local ini­tia­tives in Belling­ham, Longview, Mon­roe, and Red­mond where local folks are fight­ing back against auto­mat­ic tick­et­ing cameras).

Join us at 1125’s vic­to­ry cel­e­bra­tion at the Seat­tle West­in (1900 5th Ave) tonight (oth­er cam­paigns are going to be there too). If the West­in Seat­tle seems like an odd place for Tim Eyman to hold a vic­to­ry cel­e­bra­tion, that’s because it is. Not only is the West­in Seat­tle in, well, Seat­tle (which reli­ably votes against Eyman ini­tia­tives) it’s the place where the state Demo­c­ra­t­ic Par­ty holds its major elec­tion night par­ty in even num­bered years.

It’s also where pro­gres­sive bal­lot coali­tions some­times gath­er to watch results. NPI’s live elec­tions cov­er­age has actu­al­ly been run out of the West­in Seat­tle five times … in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010.

So why is Eyman going to be at the West­in? Because that’s where the par­ty he’s decid­ed to crash is being held.

Nor­mal­ly, Eyman crash­es the par­ty that’s being held by the high­est-pro­file Repub­li­can run­ning for office that year. For exam­ple, in 2009, he crashed Susan Hutchison’s par­ty, and the year before that, he crashed Dino Rossi’s party.

But this year, there is no major Repub­li­can gath­er­ing, so Eyman has decid­ed to crash Cost­co’s elec­tion night par­ty… which is being held at the West­in Seat­tle. Cost­co, of course, is the force behind this year’s oth­er destruc­tive ini­tia­tive, I‑1183, which would dereg­u­late and pri­va­tize our liquor sys­tem at our com­mu­ni­ties’ expense. No doubt Eyman backs I‑1183.

Cost­co has not tak­en a posi­tion on Eyman’s I‑1125, but its long­time chief exec­u­tive, Jim Sine­gal, has; a few weeks ago, he donat­ed $15,000 to Keep Wash­ing­ton Rolling to help defeat I‑1125. That makes Eyman’s deci­sion to crash Cost­co’s par­ty all the more bizarre. Won­der what kind of recep­tion he’ll get tonight?
