Vice President Kamala Harris to visit Seattle next month to raise money for Biden Victory Fund

President Joe Biden’s running mate will be paying Seattle a visit in less than two weeks to raise money for the Biden Victory Fund, NPI has learned.

Vice President Kamala Harris will be visiting the Emerald City on June 1st for a fundraising event to benefit the Democratic ticket, at a time to be announced and a location provided upon RSVP, according to an invitation circulated by the campaign.

As with fundraisers headlined by President Biden earlier this month in Seattle and Medina, and by First Lady Jill Biden last September, proceeds will benefit a joint fundraising committee established to facilitate a Democratic victory in 2024.

The minimum cost to participate in the reception is $6,600 — dubbed the “Friend” level by the campaign. Those donating at least $12,500 per couple (the Super Donor level) will be able to take a photo with the Vice President. The other giving levels are Supporting Donor, at $25,000, Lead Donor, at $50,000, and Co-Host, at $100,000.

Proceeds from joint fundraising committees can be split between many different entities. As we have previously reported here, the Biden Victory Fund benefits the campaign, the Democratic National Committee (known as the DNC for short), and the more than fifty state and territorial Democratic party organizations, including Washington’s, Oregon’s, and Idaho’s. Here are the contribution rules and allocation information:

Biden Victory Fund accepts contributions of up to $929,600 from a person and $415,000 from a multicandidate committee (“PAC”). The first $6,600/$10,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to Biden for President, with the first $3,300/$5,000 designated for the primary and the next $3,300/$5,000 for the general election. The next $41,300/$15,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to the DNC. The next $510,000/$255,000 from a person/PAC will be split equally among the Democratic state parties from: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY. Any additional funds will be allocated to the DNC, subject to applicable contribution limits.

A contributor may designate his or her contribution for a particular participant by contacting contact@joebiden.com. The allocation formula above may change if following it would result in an excessive contribution. Contributions will be used in connection with federal elections, may be spent on any activity as each committee determines in its sole discretion, and will not be earmarked for any particular candidate. Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 per election cycle. Biden Victory Fund does not accept contributions from corporations or their PACs, unions, federal contractors, national banks, those registered as federal lobbyists or under FARA, SEC-named executives of fossil fuel companies, or foreign nationals.

Vice President Harris last visited Seattle in August of 2023. She headlined a campaign reception and also appeared at an official event to mark the anniversary of the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act, which we covered here on The Cascadia Advocate.

The White House has yet to preview Vice President Harris’ schedule for June 1st or Seattle travel plans but is likely to provide guidance sometime next week.

POSTSCRIPT: We now have that guidance. This post has more details on Harris’ visit, including her schedule as released by the White House for Saturday the 1st.

  • I understand why not give the address of the event. But Seattle is a long city, and in some places wide. Knowing roughly where and when, i.e., West Seattle? NE Seattle, and morning? mid-afternoon? evening? helps some of us decide whether we can attend or not. And helps others know to avoid the area at that time. Seems you can give that much info, since other organizers do for presidential and VP visits.
