Camp Wellstone returning to Seattle: Don’t miss an outstanding training opportunity

Camp Well­stone, the sig­na­ture train­ing offered by the orga­niz­ing genius­es at Well­stone Action, is return­ing to Seat­tle for the sixth or sev­enth con­sec­u­tive year — I’m los­ing track 🙂 — about a month from now.

The 2011 camp will take place at Seat­tle Pacif­ic Uni­ver­si­ty on May 13th, 14th, and 15th. (SPU is actu­al­ly where it was held when I par­tic­i­pat­ed back in 2005.) Reg­is­tra­tion is open now, and rates are very rea­son­able (it’s based on abil­i­ty to pay). There are three tracks:

• Elec­toral Cam­paigns: Tools and Tac­tics for Success
• Cit­i­zen Activism: Grass­roots Advo­ca­cy and Organizing
• Being a Can­di­date: How to Run and Win a Pro­gres­sive Campaign

All the tracks are excel­lent — they’re just a bit dif­fer­ent in what they cov­er. The first track is ide­al for any activist plan­ning to work on a cam­paign in the near future. The sec­ond is ide­al for activists who are engaged in work­ing on issues long-term. And the third is per­fect for any pro­gres­sive plan­ning to run for office.

Most of NPI’s staff and board have been to a Camp Well­stone, whether in Seat­tle or anoth­er city. With­out a doubt, it is the best train­ing oppor­tu­ni­ty an activist can take advan­tage of. It is incred­i­bly empow­er­ing and rewarding.
