Obama ends Bush’s assault on federalism
In a two page memorandum released today, President Barack Obama told executive departments and agencies not to claim that federal rules and regulations supersede state laws unless there is sufficient legal and Constitutional basis for doing so, reversing a harmful policy of the Bush error meant to prevent states from strengthening consumer, worker, and environmental protections on their own.
