Please join NPI this Saturday at Lynn Allen’s memorial service on Mercer Island

This Saturday, the Northwest Progressive Institute team will be gathering on Mercer Island to join Lynn Allen’s family and friends in a celebration of her life.

Lynn was a founding board member of NPI who provided invaluable counsel and advice to myself and the staff. We miss her greatly, but we will never forget the wisdom she shared with us. Lynn understood, perhaps better than anyone, the importance of uniting the grassroots and the netroots. She believed in people-powered politics and she used her skills as a facilitator to bring people together around a common purpose. She was one of our movement’s brightest lights.

We’d like to invite you to join us at what promises to be a very memorable gathering of wonderful people. Even if you didn’t know Lynn particularly well, you are more than welcome to come and meet those of us who did.

The event will be held at the Community Center at Mercer View — the same venue for our 2010 and 2011 Spring Fundraising Galas. It will begin at two o’clock and run for two hours. There will be refreshments, remembrances, music, and a photo slideshow that yours truly is working on.

The Community Center is located at 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, 98040. It is just a couple blocks from the Mercer Island transit center, which is served by Metro and Sound Transit. If you’re driving, take the Island Crest Way exit off I‑90.
