Closing Statements from the candidates

Larry: opportunity to change things in County and Legislature. Executive experience in both public and private sector. Proven effective leadership, someone who can be trusted with bringing change. Culture of the County needs to change. Cost effective basis. Knows how to make changes

Alan: streamline departments, personal service by employees. Looking at getting public service back into King County government. Employees are frustrated, and it comes from the Executive. Intends to get interior working.

Fred: reinstate manangement controls for County government. Need leadership and accountability. Need to make sure County is a great place for businesses to invest. Make Metro work for environmental and economic reasons. Put buses where they work and where we want them to work. Accountability is the key. Protecting environment through results, not process

Susan: One message loud and clear, King County government does not serve its people. Everyone has complaints about how County treats them. Desire for County is to change way things are done. Takes leadership, all about leadership. We lack courage to get things done.

Ross: Two things to think about, regional leadership to rebuild relationship with 39 local governments. We need to work together. We have to get cost structure under control. Bring executive experience. Wants to change world in King County like Microsoft changed the world. Guys on Council today own part of the problem

Goodspaceguy: Running because wants to see how high we can raise quality of life in King County. To reach goal we should become employment friendly area. Get helpers into the County.

Dow: County where invented aviaton. People of this County are creative, bright, innovative and deserve government as innovative as the people. Let go of programs and institutions so we can focus on what delivers value. Been on Council to be frustrated with the resistence to change. Pushed for dramatic change. Need to drive down costs and create a fairer tax system. A progressive with clear eye on issues and efficency.
