More than three-fourths of Washington voters support the proposed My Health, My Data Act

76% of 874 vot­ers inter­viewed from March 7th-8th, 2023 by Pub­lic Pol­i­cy Polling  for the North­west Pro­gres­sive Insti­tute said they were sup­port­ive of block­ing health track­ing apps and adver­tis­ers from col­lect­ing and sell­ing Wash­ing­to­ni­ans’ health data with­out their con­sent, bar­ring loca­tion-spe­cif­ic tar­get­ing of peo­ple who vis­it repro­duc­tive and gen­der affirm­ing health­care facil­i­ties, and requir­ing com­pa­nies to main­tain and pub­lish a pri­va­cy pol­i­cy for people’s health data.

Voters say Legislature has a responsibility to act to prevent school closures, staff layoffs

55% of 874 vot­ers inter­viewed from March 7th-8th, 2023 said they agreed that Wash­ing­ton’s pub­lic schools are under­fund­ed and we need to raise state rev­enue to ful­ly fund them, while 35% dis­agreed and 10% were not sure. 59% of those sur­veyed sub­se­quent­ly said they agreed that the Leg­is­la­ture has an oblig­a­tion to respond to the fis­cal crises dis­tricts are fac­ing by sub­stan­tial­ly increas­ing school funding.

Seattle voters love ST3’s Ballard and West Seattle light rail extensions, but will they love the alignment Sound Transit’s board picks?

81% of like­ly Feb­ru­ary 2023 spe­cial elec­tion vot­ers in Seat­tle sup­port light rail to Bal­lard and West Seat­tle, which is in design. Sound Tran­sit would be wise to keep that in mind when mak­ing align­ment deci­sions that our region will have to live with for decades.

Two-thirds of Washington voters support barring gender-based price discrimination

67% of 874 like­ly vot­ers inter­viewed in March of 2023 by Pub­lic Pol­i­cy Polling voiced sup­port for pro­hibit­ing peo­ple or busi­ness­es “from charg­ing dif­fer­ent prices for two sub­stan­tial­ly sim­i­lar goods based on the gen­der of the per­sons to whom the goods are mar­ket­ed,” which is what Sen­ate Bill 5171 would do if enact­ed. 59% were strong­ly sup­port­ive and anoth­er 8% were some­what supportive.

Should Gov­er­nor Jay Inslee decide against seek­ing an unprece­dent­ed fourth term, an NPI poll has found that Repub­li­can Pierce Coun­ty Exec­u­tive Bruce Dammeier and Demo­c­ra­t­ic Attor­ney Gen­er­al Bob Fer­gu­son would be the two lead­ing can­di­dates to suc­ceed him in a 2024 hypo­thet­i­cal field that also includ­ed King Coun­ty Exec­u­tive Dow Con­stan­tine (D) and Com­mis­sion­er of Pub­lic Lands Hilary Franz (D).

Voters in Washington State strongly support taxing extreme wealth, NPI poll confirms

67% of 874 like­ly vot­ers sur­veyed by Pub­lic Pol­i­cy Polling in March 2023 for NPI said they sup­port­ed levy­ing a one per­cent wealth tax on Wash­ing­ton res­i­dents whose world­wide wealth exceeds a quar­ter bil­lion dol­lars, to ben­e­fit the state’s essen­tial pub­lic ser­vices, while only 28% were opposed and 5% were not sure.

A plurality of special election voters in Seattle disapprove of how their schools are being run

41% of six hun­dred and fifty-one Feb­ru­ary 2023 spe­cial elec­tion vot­ers inter­viewed by Change Research for NPI last month said they some­what or strong­ly dis­ap­proved of the way the Seat­tle Pub­lic Schools are cur­rent­ly being run. 28% said they some­what or strong­ly approved, and 31% were not sure.
