Victory! State Senate passes bill to ban invasive fish net pens in Washington waters

The Wash­ing­ton State Sen­ate has passed a bill that will safe­guard our waters and aquat­ic lands for future gen­er­a­tions. Spon­sored by Kevin Ranker, 2SSB 6086 would pro­hib­it the Depart­ment of Nat­ur­al Resources from sign­ing or renew­ing any leas­es that would allow the farm­ing of inva­sive, non­na­tive Atlantic salmon.

Even Republicans like Mark Schoesler oppose drilling for oil off of Washington’s coast

While it may appear that the Repub­li­can Par­ty’s love of the oil indus­try and its desire to extract, refine, and burn every last drop of black gold has no lim­it, it turns out there are a fair num­ber of Repub­li­cans who aren’t com­fort­able giv­ing the oil indus­try unchecked per­mis­sion to plun­der Amer­i­ca’s nat­ur­al resources.
