Governor Inslee vetoes ESB 6617; media and legislators agree to public records ceasefire

Excerpt: In a victory for sense and sensibility, Governor Jay Inslee tonight vetoed an extremely unpopular bill passed by the Legislature last week that would have permanently shielded lawmakers from having to comply with Washington State's public records laws until after July 1st, 2018.

Republicans Jay Rodne, Michael Baumgartner will not seek reelection to state Legislature

Excerpt: Two Republican legislators in key districts announced separately yesterday that they will be leaving the Washington State Legislature at the end of this year as opposed to seeking reelection in what many observers believe could be a wave year for the Democratic Party not unlike the 2006 midterms twelve years ago.
