Good evening, and welcome to our live coverage of President Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address. The speech is being broadcast by all major broadcast and cable news networks, and you can also watch it at WhiteHouse.gov.
President Obama is currently making his way to the U.S. Capitol via motorcade, and the speech is scheduled to begin in just a few moments’ time (6 PM Pacific, 9 PM Eastern). Once it begins, we will start bringing you live analysis and commentary, focusing particularly on the framing of the speech.

“We spend more on our military than the next eight nations in the world,” President Obama notes, going on to praise U.S. troops as “the finest fighting force in the world.”
I believe this will conrinue to commit us to further foreign wars and nation building boon dongles! If our expensive “finest fighting force in the world” keeps losing every war since 1945, why is it so good? The trillions spent on it would be better spent on other things.
I believe Obama is just repeating the same ol speech they all have BS’s us on. Things are in crisis Most everywhere and he is not fighting back like FDR did.
As a progressive that has seen it all repeated for the last 50 years, nothing is changing for we the people, and he did nothing to change that for us while in office. We’re spyed on more than ever and the wealthy are taking everything they can get from us! And foreign wars, pushed by neocons are getting their way everywhere, Obama has not stopped it.
We the people will soon have nothing!
