Israel attacks United Nations' Gaza HQ

Oops, sorry about that:
Israel shelled the United Nations headquarters in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, engulfing the compound and a warehouse in fire and destroying thousands of pounds of food and humanitarian supplies intended for Palestinian refugees.

Another Israeli bombardment on Thursday killed the Hamas security chief.

U.N. workers and Palestinian firefighters, some wearing bulletproof jackets, struggled to douse the flames and pull bags of food from the debris after the Israeli attack, which was another blow to efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Dense smoke billowed from the compound.
Israel has also either accidentally or purposefully shelled buildings housing journalists who are reporting on the conflict. It seems like Israeli forces are out of control in the Holy Land. "Grave mistakes" like this are inexcusable. There's no justification for opening fire on United Nations facilities. None. Ever.

Is the United States going to do anything to insist on an end to this violence? Or will we continue writing blank checks to Israel, assuring the Israeli government that they can do whatever they want with our tacit approval?

We can't be peacemakers if we're taking sides.

"no excuse for it" unless of course you're being fired upon from it and have no choice left but to fight.

Let's go to the videotape, shall we? http://www.youtube.com/user/idfnadesk

There are so so many video examples of the Hamas breaking international law by firing missiles and mortars from among civilians in schools, UN sites, and places of worship, let's give the Israelis the benefit of the doubt and acknowledge it is more than likely that yet again Hamas has broken international law by firing mortars from a UN property. And where, pray tell, is the outrage on that from the UN? Still waiting on that, I guess.

Eventually one has to ask one's self, why would Hamas do that? Fire from among civilian enclaves? And the answer eventually comes to anyone who is thinking this through, that they do this so that most people (who don't think, who are ideologically opposed to thinking about things, like most progressives most days) will attribute the unavoidable civilian casualties that are hoped for by Hamas to the evil other, and not to the international law breaking thugs and hooligans who acted in violation of all known laws of decency in the first place by willfully endangering women and children by enticing the enemy to fire upon places where those women and children are housed.

Time to get a clue, folks. You're against violence? Good.

You want to blame? Hamas has got you right where they want you. How does it feel to be so easily manipulated?
