Once the steel strand bundles are run through all the pontoons, they will be drawn tight to compress the pontoons together. This compression will strengthen the cement structure of the pontoons as well as reduce movement of the bridge. Reducing the movement will extend the life of the bridge as well as the light rail tracks that will eventually be installed on top of the bridge.
