Tim Eyman pens another ode to Pam Roach, fails to mention all the campaigns she’s lost

Serial public disclosure law offender Tim Eyman can’t get enough of his sweetheart Washington State Senator Pam Roach, who has frequently gotten into trouble for violating Senate rules, harassing colleagues and staff, and treating people testifying before the committee she chairs with extreme rudeness and hostility.

But Eyman, who earlier this year sent out pictures of himself kissing Roach’s hand in her office, thinks she’s a saint and walks on water.

Today, he sent out an email glorifying her in the extreme, writing:

She is the Energizer Bunny of the conservative movement — because she just keeps going and going and going. […] There’s a lot of talkers in politics. Pam is a doer.

I’ve never known a more passionate advocate for the issues she believes in than Pam Roach. She cares about people, cares about good public policy, and stands up for herself and her beliefs.

We love her. I love her. She is currently serving as state senator for the 31st district and is a candidate in November for a seat on the Pierce County Council.

There are political cemeteries filled with the bodies of political opponents who’ve taken her on. Cathy Dahlquist, Chris Hurst, Matt Richardson, Mike Hewitt, Jim West, and other tiny little men no one’s ever heard of who have broken their pick trying to take her out. But one by one, they’ve all fallen by the wayside because she is the Rock of Gibraltar.

The elitists in the media are constantly dumbfounded by her continued success because they regularly hit her with the kitchen sink only to see her popularity with voters go up as a result. They are breathless, exasperated, frustrated, and awe-struck by her resilience and tenacity.

She reminds them how small and un-influential they actually are.

Pam Roach’s adversaries just can’t accept the fact that voters love her. They adore her. They admire how hard she works.

Voters know that in the go-along-to-get-along-B.S. culture of Olympia, Pam Roach doesn’t play that game. She tells it like it is and busts her butt to push for what she believes in.

Her enemies are jealous, envious, covetous of her ability not just to survive but to thrive in the political arena. They are angry that their attacks on her only increase the public’s support for her. They constantly take their shots from the shadows, only proving their own cowardice, impotence, and incompetence.

We have no doubt Pam Roach appreciates Tim Eyman’s love as much as he appreciates her. The two of them are like peas in a pod. But what Eyman failed to mention in his Ode to Pam is that Roach hasn’t been successful in ANY of her campaigns outside of the 31st Legislative District. She has repeatedly sought higher office, and the voters have repeatedly chosen someone else.

Here’s the history:

In 1996, Pam Roach ran for Governor of Washington State as a Republican in a crowded field. She was eliminated in the September blanket primary. She received a puny 2.50% of the vote. The Republican nomination went to Ellen Craswell.

In 2003, Pam Roach ran for King County Council as a Republican in the 9th District, but was eliminated in the blanket primary, losing to Steve Hammond.

And in 2009, Pam Roach ran in a special election for King County Elections Director, a countywide position. Again, she was defeated, losing to Sherril Huff and David Irons. She received only 15.81% of the vote.

Now Roach wants to be on the Pierce County Council. She has hinted she’ll remain in the Legislature (and hold two government jobs) if she wins. She faces two Democratic opponents: Carolyn Edmonds and Pat Jenkins. Will she be able to snap her higher office losing streak this year? We will soon find out.

If the Pierce County Democrats have their way, the answer will be NO.
