Oops! U.S. government agrees to pay $50 million after “pirating” software from Apptricity

The United States is set to pay a Texas company $50 million after it was discovered that the military had installed thousands of copies of a proprietary program but only paid for licenses for a few hundred of them. The company, Apptricity, asked for $224 million but will get $50 million.
