Patchy fog in the forecast for Pacific Northwest as blizzard batters New England

New England is battening down the hatches following the arrival of a fierce blizzard that the National Weather Service says will dump several feet of snow on the region. Major cities like Boston are all but shut down, with roads, bridges, airports, and transit systems temporarily closed for the duration of the event.

While the Atlantic seaboard grapples with yet another “Snowpocalypse” style event, the Pacific Northwest lowlands are in for another mild winter weekend. The National Weather Service forecast for this weekend calls for temperatures in the thirties and forties (Fahrenheit) and patchy fog:

  • Tonight: Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Light east southeast wind.
  • Saturday: Patchy fog before 10 AM. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Saturday Night: Patchy fog after 10 PM. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. North wind 3 to 5 mph.
  • Sunday: Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 48. Light and variable wind.
