In a guest column for The Nation, two of the founders of FreePress (John Nichols and Robert McChesney) argue that media consolidation and a shift away from hard hitting investigative reporting are partly to blame for the newspaper industry’s woes. They conclude that we, the people, through our government, ought to act to save and revive American journalism.
