The United Nations collects a lot of data. It’s interesting stuff, about demographics, population movement, armed conflicts, and the zillions of other things that affect human life around the planet. The cool part is, the data is available to everyone through a google-ish web interface.
Some people outside of government agencies are starting to do interesting things with the data, like this report on birth and death rates around the world. Where you live really does make a difference.
