Congratulations to the Seattle Storm!

The team at NPI would like to extend our congratulations to the Seattle Storm, who capped the most remarkable season in franchise history with their seventh consecutive postseason victory, winning the 2010 WNBA championship title.

I know we don't usually blog about sports here on The Advocate, but we'd be remiss not to congratulate the Storm on their championship. Capturing a league title in Seattle — any league title — is a pretty big deal. The Storm deserve all the goodwill that the city can bestow on them. They're an incredible team, the best in WNBA history. They also have the best record of any pro club in Seattle history.

Appropriately, there will be a big parade tomorrow evening at seven o'clock. The WNBA's website has a map of the parade route, as well as details on the free victory celebration that will be held at KeyArena immediately following the parade.

Even the envious Mariners are getting in on the fun. They'll be honoring the Storm this Sunday at Safeco Field. The Storm will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Mariners play the Rangers.

The two ballclubs that play across the street from the Mariners, meanwhile, quickly tweeted their congratulations. Sounders FC wrote:
WNBA CHAMPIONS = @SEATTLESTORM!! Congratulations to all involved in bringing a second championship to Seattle.
And the Seahawks wrote:
Thanks to the @seattlestorm for brining another WNBA Championship to Seattle! An inspiring season all of Seattle is proud of.
Seattle Mayor McGinn has not yet issued a statement on the Storm's championship win, but if he does, I'll add it into this post.
