Announcing our final speaking guest for next week's Spring Fundraising Gala: Jon Soltz

As of this evening, we're exactly one week away from our second Spring Fundraising Gala, which will be held next Wednesday at the Community Center at Mercer View (registration and dinner at 6:30 PM, main program begins at 7:30 PM).

We've always been excited about our lineup of speaking guests — King County Executive Dow Constantine, Suzan DelBene, Representative Hans Dunshee, John de Graaf, and NPI's own Gael Tarleton — but today we're excited to reveal that we'll be joined by another very special guest: Jon Soltz of VoteVets.org.

Jon is a respected leader in the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans community, who has served abroad in Kosovo as a Tank Platoon Leader (2000) and in the Iraqi theater as a Captain (2003), deploying logistics convoys with the 1st Armored Division. More recently (2005), Jon was mobilized for a year at Fort Dix New Jersey, training soldiers for combat in Afghanistan and Iraq. He holds a dual degree in Political Science and History from Washington & Jefferson College.

If you're a fan of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, you've probably seen Jon on MSNBC, as he is a regular guest. He has also appeared on many of the most popular progressive radio programs in the country, and he has spoken about national defense and energy security at Netroots Nation.

We're honored that he is traveling out to our region to participate in this event.

We hope you'll be able to join us in welcoming him to the great Pacific Northwest by coming to our Spring Fundraising Gala next week.

We recommend purchasing tickets in advance. There are two rates available: Individual ($45) and Household ($75).

The latter is easily the better value for any family. The household rate was rather popular at our first gala, and we're happy to be able to offer it again.

We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you on June 9th!
