Barack Obama the true winner in Nevada!

Guess who the real winner in Nevada is? It's not Hillary Clinton!
So check it out, Obama literally won more delegates in Nevada than Clinton:
A source with knowledge of the Nevada Democratic Party's projections told The Nation that under the arcane weighting system, Obama would win 13 national convention delegates and Clinton would win 12 delegates. The state party has not released an official count yet.

Barack Obama released an official statement celebrating a delegate victory. "We came from over twenty-five points behind to win more national convention delegates than Hillary Clinton because we performed well all across the state, including rural areas where Democrats have traditionally struggled," he said.
And the Obama campaign is milking it, throwing the Hillary campaign's own words against it:
Senator Obama was awarded 13 delegates to Senator Clinton's 12. As Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson said, "This is a race for delegates...It is not a battle for individual states. As David knows, we are well past the time when any state will have a disproportionate influence on the nominating process."
Ha ha ha. As if this thing couldn't get any more absurd.
So Nevada is essentially another hollow victory for Hillary Clinton.

She gets the headlines and the paper-mâché crown from the traditional media, but Barack Obama will get more delegates.

Nevada hasn't changed anything.

Onwards and forwards to the next chapter in the race for the White House.

All this does is point out the absurdity of the caucus system which Washington State also is using to select delegates.

In November votes will be statewide and not for delegates by districts or counties.

Clinton received more votes than Obama. She was able to draw out more individual voters which will be what's important in November.

Neither Clinton's or Obama's numbers are impressive. Republicans pulled out 4 times as many voters to their caucuses.

And the voter turnout for Democrats represents a total of only 2.6% of all active registered Democrats in Nevada.

The last comment is in error as to participation. Republicans, as in Iowa, actually report vote totals. The Democrats only report delegates chosen, so the comparison I gave in the last comment is in error. Results in several media sources presented the data side by side without clearly indicating they were not comparable.

The Nevada Democrats report now that some 107,000 people actually turned out to the caucuses. This represents a turnout of about 26.9% of Nevada's registered Democrats.

What isn't released by the Democrats is the actual vote count each candidate got. The Democrats are only releasing part of the caucus results - how many delegates were elected for each candidate, which is a different figure from the total of the actual votes cast by each voter.

This secrecy as to what the actual votes were for each candidate before delegates were selected should be ended and vote totals should be released to the public. The Democrats as a result of only releasing final delegate counts are actually hiding part of the election process and only presenting part of the results.
