Much of the region remains under a high wind watch for this evening.

...HIGH WIND WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT FOR THE LOWER COLUMBIA...THE I-5 CORRIDOR IN COWLITZ COUNTY...THE GREATER PORTLAND METRO AREA...THE GREATER VANCOUVER AREA...THE CENTRAL AND SOUTH WILLAMETTE VALLEY...THE NORTH OREGON CASCADE FOOTHILLS...THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS IN LANE COUNTY AND THE SOUTH WASHINGTON CASCADE FOOTHILLS..

THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

A DEEPENING LOW PRESSURE AREA WILL MOVE TOWARD THE NORTH OREGON COAST THIS AFTERNOON...THEN MOVE ACROSS WASHINGTON TONIGHT. SOUTH WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH ARE POSSIBLE TONIGHT. THESE POTENTIAL STRONG WINDS OVER THE INLAND VALLEYS AND FOOTHILLS OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON WILL DEPEND ON THE EXACT TRACK AND STRENGTH OF THE LOW AS IT MOVES INLAND TONIGHT.

A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT. SUSTAINED WINDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH...OR GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR STRONGER MAY OCCUR. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FOR UPDATES ON THIS DEVELOPING SITUATION.
