Recount update: Rossi leads by only 42 votes

Permanent Defense has the details. So far, it doesn't look bad for Gregoire - she picked up a lot of votes, even though she's still behind. The next step is a hand recount. The Democrats will have to pay for it, but the Democratic Governor's Association has offered to offset at least part of the cost. The Gregoire campaign seems very confident they will pick up more votes in a second recount. We think they could, too. They will have until Friday, December 3rd, to request another recount (a hand recount, of course).

Chris Vance, the GOPolitburo chair, is still whining about how it would be "honorable" for Gregoire to concede. Yeah...honorable for a Democrat to concede to a Republican. Vance should quit spouting nonsense. If it were Rossi losing by 42 votes, they'd be clamoring for another recount. There needs to be another recount - there has never been a statewide election this close before.
