It's bad, but never give up

First, a moment of silence.

Do you why we lost the election?

In my opinion, it was because when Kerry was seen to be the next presidential contender, the Republicans went on the offensive with a negative campaign that had time to predefine Kerry before we could define him (and he could define himself) and in that context they won.

Next time, it should be the Democrats' job to make sure that whenever the republican party attacks begin we will send a quick response to protect each and every candidate.

House, lost! Senate, lost! Presidency lost! Senate Minority leader lost!
I know how you feel - this looks really bad. John Kerry lost. We have lost Tom Daschle - he’s been in the Senate since 1986, and he has been the long time leader of the Democratic Party in the Senate, and his loss is a defeat to us.

But in two years we have a chance to change some of that.

Now that we have looked at a sour defeat, we can now look on the clear message of achievements that we've made.

Two years ago the left seemed silent and sleepy, the president's words were not countered and, seemingly only one man in a position of power opposed his moves, Ted Kennedy [though many others did as well!].

Michael Moore was a precursor for everything that would come next. Since then MoveOn has brought millions together and consequently raise millions, Air America Radio has been brought into existence, and the Democrats raised an impressive amount of money.

Bush won despite the war in Iraq, not because of it, and Bush cannot afford another war.

Today the Democratic Party has a choice. They must decide who shall become the leader of our party. A classical solution is just to take a senior senator with lots of experience.

Instead, Barack Obama should become our "spiritual" leader. This would allow us to gain a fresh new perspective, this new leader could bring the party to new heights. His views on protecting health care, supporting equality and fighting for what is right is what the party needs. Let Barack Obama be a leader for the next generation of the Democratic Party.
