WASHINGTON CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS
ELECTIONS COVERAGE
NPI's Elections Center provides the latest news and analysis on local, state, and federal races across the Pacific Northwest.

Washington State's current congressional delegation to the House is comprised of six Democrats and three Republicans. The Democrats are:
1st Congressional District: JAY INSLEE
2nd Congressional District: RICK LARSEN
3rd Congressional District: BRIAN BAIRD
6th Congressional District: NORM DICKS
7th Congressional District: JIM MCDERMOTT
9th Congressional District: ADAM SMITH
The Republicans are:
4th Congressional District: DOC HASTINGS
5th Congressional District: CATHY MCMORRIS
8th Congressional District: DAVE REICHERT
The 8th Congressional District is one of the country's most winnable seats for the Democrats. It is a suburban and rural district to the east of Seattle, from the northern suburbs that include part of the Microsoft campus and many of its employees, running south through suburban areas that have been disproportionately hit by Boeing layoffs and rural areas that include Mt. Rainier National Park. The 8th has never sent a Democrat to Congress - but voted overwhelmingly in 2004 for Sen. Patty Murray (D), sends 50% Democrats to the state legislature, and is a district that was won by both Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004.
In the 8th, NPI is supporting the candidacy of Darcy Burner. We believe that Darcy is the right candidate to take back Washington's 8th District.
In the 45th, Richard Wright is taking on Doc Hastings and Peter Goldmark is challenging Cathy McMorris. Additionally, All six Democratic incumbents are running for reelection to the U.S. House.
