MAKE PACIFIC NORTHWEST PORTAL YOUR START PAGE
Change your browser settings to make Pacific Northwest Portal the first page that loads when you boot up
What is a start page? A start page is the first page you see when your browser (say, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Apple’s Safari) loads. It’s also known as your own home page. If you press the “home” button in your browser, that’s the page you’ll go to.

INSTRUCTIONS
Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox for Windows
- Open up your browser by clicking on the “e” or the fox.
- Click on “Tools”, then “Internet Options” (IE) or “Options” (Firefox)
- A dialogue box will open up, and you’ll be on the “General” tab. Below or to the right of the tabs, you’ll see it says “Home Page”. You can change your home page address here. Change the URL to http://www.nwprogressive.org/portal. Click OK at the bottom to close and save your changes.
America Online
- AOL users, be sure you’re using the latest version of AOL – 9.0 Security Edition. Then go to your Windows Control Panel and select the "Internet Options" icon.
- A dialogue box will open up, and you’ll be on the “General” tab. Below or to the right of the tabs, you’ll see it says “Home Page”. You can change your home page address here. Change the URL to http://www.nwprogressive.org/portal. Click OK at the bottom to close and save your changes.
Apple’s Safari and Firefox for Macintosh
- Go to “Preferences” in the Safari or Firefox menu of your browser. Choose General from the icons across the top of the popup window (“General” may already be selected)
- Enter http://www.nwprogressive.org/portal in the Home Page field. Click OK at the bottom to close and save your changes.
Netscape Navigator
- Go to the Portal home page - http://www.nwprogressive.org/portal
- From the Navigator menu bar, select Edit, Preferences. The Preferences dialog box will appear.
- In the Preferences dialog box, click Navigator in the Category list. That panel will move to the front.
- In the Navigator panel, click the Use Current Page button to set the page you just visited as the home page.
Opera
- On the main menu bar click on Navigation and select Set Home.
- In the Global Home Page field, type in the address at the top of this page - http://www.nwprogressive.org/portal - and then click OK.
- On exiting Opera, select the Save Windows checkbox.
- On launching Opera, you will need to click on Home in the toolbar.
Konqueror
- Start Konqueror with the "Web Browser" button
- Open the page that you want to be loaded - http://www.nwprogressive.org/portal - in any new "Web Browser" window, and select "Save View Profile Web Browsing" in the Window menu.
